Layla Michelle Barrett was born in Alamogordo, NM in 1975. She has always been an artist at heart, starting at an early age with her love of classical music while bass clarinet, piano, and choir. Layla has a BA in Music and Psychology from Concordia University, and an MS in Clinical Psychology from Midwestern State University. With a fierce passion for education and working with children, Layla taught Montessori, music, and special education for over 20 years. Layla Michelle was introduced to art therapy in 2001 which led to her instant love of color, patterns, and the healing properties of art. As a hobby, she taught herself acrylic and oil painting, as well as mixed media. Today, Layla Michelle is a full-time professional artist, as well as an art teacher in her Wichita Falls studio.
